The selection of paintings for this Schwatschke Retrospective Exhibition 1954-2004 are a varied group of paintings, showing various styles of work over fifty years as a portrait painter. It was not possible to search out many of the more humorous caricature paintings which have been seen passing through the auction rooms in Ireland, UK and London. However, we have on loan examples of the artist’s formal academic portraiture, his recent caricature portraits, his ‘Free Flowing Line’ series, the Script series, and early ink drawings.
